Author Interview: Jennifer Pierce

Today, we have historical romance author, Jennifer Pierce, with us to answer some questions and tell us a bit more about her new book, HIDDEN DANGER.

Why don’t you start by telling us a bit about yourself.

I was born in Arkansas and have spent all but three years here. My husband and I will celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary this year. We have 2 children. I’m a paralegal by day and a referee and storyteller by night.

I love books and The Princess Bride. My daughter and I can quote it.

How long have you actually been a writer?

Other than assignments in school, I didn’t start writing until 2015. My dad died in January 2014. I spent 2014 with my nose buried in books. That was my therapy. In 2015, I channelled that into writing. Maggie popped into my head and insisted I write her story.

What is your writing process like?

I am a complete pantster. Hidden Danger started out with 1 scene and I built on that. I actually didn’t know who the villain was until about halfway through. I write when I can, mostly on my lunch break and after the kids go to bed.

Hidden Danger released this week. Can you tell us what it’s about?

Maggie Jones has returned to Whitehaven, Texas to get her late father’s property ready for sale. When she arrives, she finds the house has been vandalized. While she’s at the sheriff’s office to make a report, she finds out that Cody Smith, the man that broke her heart 6 years prior, is the new sheriff. The vandalism to the house is just the beginning of a nightmare for her. Cody wants to protect her life and Maggie wants to protect her heart while he does.

What’s your favorite scene from the book?

Hmm, that’s a tough question. There’s a scene where Maggie explains to Cody about how all of her past pains, trials, and experiences has made her the woman she is today. I don’t want to tell the whole scene, spoilers you know, but Maggie’s thought process is one I identify with.

Where can readers find you?

Finally, tell us what’s next. What else are you working on?

Well, I’ve already finished book 2 in the Small Town Guardians series. Look for Expecting Danger at a later date. I’ve got a good start on book 3. Now, if only my brain can stop hopping between it and other stories I’ve started, I could get it finished.
Thank you, Jennifer!
