We are pleased to introduce our newest Senior Editor, Julie Sturgeon!
Julie Sturgeon brings several decades of editing experience to the romance industry. As the the imprint manager and a founding development editor at Crimson Romance, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, she worked with authors on more than 250 titles. She has more than 25 years experience in journalism and magazine writing/editing throughout her career, which covers everything from lifestyle stories to sports reporting to editorial director of two business-to-business titles. One of her favorite gigs was building the romance department at Pages magazine as its exclusive columnist for the genre until the publication ceased. (That’s polite wording for “it went bankrupt.”)
Her biggest claims to fame are her annual snarky Christmas letter and a video of her in candy-striped bibs, screaming when Indiana University upset the Kentucky Wildcats.

Julie’s Wishlist:
I’m actively seeking stories where the conflict involves a personal situation between the hero and heroine—competing goals, incompatible backgrounds, different needs that don’t mesh—and then emphasizes how they work out this impasse, as opposed to all of their problems coming from outside forces trying to tear down their united front. I’m also drawn to stories of living out Christian values in a real world, with real people who make mistakes. I’d love to find stories in the following subgenres:
- Contemporary
- Comedy
- Romantic suspense
- Historicals
Submission Guidelines:
