Author Stephanie Eding is here today to talk about our newest release, Unanchored!
- Tell us why we’ll love your book.
In UNANCHORED, you’ll find high seas adventure, miscreant shenanigans, snarky banter, peril, tea and biscuits, and a hint of mystery. My characters are loaded with quirk, and I hope readers enjoy their journey with them.
- Do you have any strange writing habits?
Hmm. I don’t know how strange they are, but I have to have a drink any time I sit down at my computer. It’s probably disturbing how much caffeine goes into my system with each book I write. I also proofread aloud, generally with an accent of some sorts. And whenever I finish a draft, I play Tag Team’s “Whoomp! (There It Is)”and have a dance party of one.
- What writing advice do you have for other aspiring authors?
I say all the time that if I knew how hard the road to publication would be, I never would have taken the leap. Don’t give up. Every hardship is worth the joy that comes at the finish line! Gather as many critique partners as you can find—reading for other new writers and seeing your own work through their eyes is one of the best ways to grow and strengthen your writing. I also recommend reading your book aloud. It’s one of the best ways to catch mistakes and see where parts of your story aren’t flowing naturally.
- Are you a plotter or a pantster?
I so wish I was a pantser! I love the idea of sitting down and just hammering out a story—but I am most definitely a plotter. I have to have my plot points bulleted out, a Pinterest board made up, chapters outlined in depth, and lots of inspiration ready to go when all of that backfires.
- What do you do when you’re not writing?
When I’m not writing, you can find me playing games with my two kids, snuggling one of my three cats, or watching a funny sitcom with my hubby. By day, I’m a freelance editor, a perpetual organizer, and a volunteer at our local humane society.
- Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?
Hi. Seriously, thank you—for reading, for your support, for taking a chance on my scurvy crew. I truly hope you enjoyed the adventure.
