Tell us a bit about yourself. Include a couple of facts that not a lot of people know about you.
I’m an avid reader and a pet lover who’s lived just about everywhere. Old movies, gardening, and lots of tea are some of my favorite hobbies. A country girl and hiker, I’m happiest when I’m so far out in the woods that car horns, billboards, and street lights seem like a thing of the past.
Tell us a bit about the book that will be published by Anaiah Press.
Glazed Suspicion is a fun, romantic suspense novel that centers around Nikki, a brave, no-nonsense doughnut chef. When her shop is vandalized, she becomes the main suspect but she has more to worry about than the cops. Someone is trying to kill her! Thankfully, Josh, the handsome sheriff’s deputy, believes in her and helps fight to prove her innocence.
When and why did you start writing?
I started writing a couple of years ago. It was always something I wanted to do but I just never made the time. After college, I started randomly jotting things down on paper and before I knew it, I had the beginnings of a story that it turned into a manuscript.
Is this your first book? How many have you written? How many have you published?
This is my first published novel. I’ve written three others that I hope will follow.
Tell us a bit about your journey to publication.
When I finished Glazed Suspicion, I started my search for a small press that specializes in inspirational fiction. I quickly found Anaiah and sent them my manuscript.
What are some of your favorite books / authors?
I love Jane Eyre! I read it at least once a year and love it more every time. Classics are a big favorite of mine. There’s such a great feeling of accomplishment when you finish a Dicken’s tale.
What are some of your favorite movies / TV shows?
Casablanca is my favorite movie of all time. The disk always seemed to be in the blue ray player. As far as TV, I love a fun mystery show like Monk or Psych. I can only watch their re-runs since they’re off the air but they just seem to get funnier.
Where do you find inspiration for your books?
Everywhere. It doesn’t seem to matter what I’m doing. Grocery shopping, laundry, or taking the dog for a walk. An idea just seems to pop into my head. The trick is trying to remember it until I get to some pen and paper.
Describe your perfect day of relaxation.
Books, tea, chocolate, and a backyard with a view.
