Connie Ann Michael is back with a new young adult series. Meet Connie and learn a little about her newest release, I Wanna Be Different.
Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi, I am a 5th grade teacher at Crow Agency Public School. I love teaching and am heading into my 30th year. I live in Montana and love the plains as well as the mountains. I have two grown boys, one is a wildland firefighter and the other is in the Army. I have been married to my best friend for many, many years and hope him, me, and our little family of dogs have many adventures ahead.
How did you hear about Anaiah Press?
I was lucky enough to have worked with two of the individuals that started up Anaiah. The publisher we had been with fell apart and when Eden asked if I was interested in writing for them, I jumped at the chance!
How did you get the idea for your book?
The book, I Wanna Be Different, was written over a few years. My son was a football player in high school and college so I have a lot of knowledge of what he experienced through the social ladder. During writing this story I also experienced a very debilitating concussion, so I drew from my personal experiences to develop the story.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
When I am not writing I am often reading but if I am in need of fresh air, then I am most definitely hiking, running, biking, doing something outside.

At the beginning of Lee Diaz’s senior year, her grandmother dies, leaving her and her twin brother without a guardian. And to make matters worse, Lee’s abusive mother waltzes back into their lives, making the final stretch to graduation an impossible goal.
Jolin Daniel leads a charmed life, with the head cheerleader on his arm and leading the league in touchdowns. College scouts are knocking on his door. But his popularity comes crashing to an end when he receives a career-ending concussion at a pre-season game.
For both Lee and Jolin, it only takes a single moment for their dreams to shatter. A greedy jock and a manipulative girl thrust these two broken people into a conspiracy that could ruin both their lives. Together, they must learn to accept the fate they’ve been given and have faith in God’s plan to come out on the other side.
