Author interview: Penelope Powell

Congratulations on your new release!

Thank You! I’m excited to finally share Laney and Matthew’s story.

Give us a quick one paragraph summary of your latest release.

TOGETHER FOR GOOD is about God bringing good out of difficult events and trials. From the time tragedy touched Laney Spence’s life as a girl, she’s harbored a crush on her big brother’s best friend, Matthew. Years later, they come together under similar circumstances, but is it enough to keep them together for good?

Is this book part of a series, or a stand-alone?

This is the third book in the Glen Oak Series, but it can be read as a stand alone novel.

How did you hear about Anaiah Press?

A friend saw a twitter feed about Anaiah accepting manuscripts so I polished one I working on and sent it. That book was A Powerful Voice.

What was your first encounter with the writing world?

I attended ACFW seminar in Indianapolis. I learned so much that weekend. Mostly about things I was doing wrong. LOL

How did you get the idea for your book?

One summer I volunteered with an organization that collected and distributed food to families that needed help. One of the organizers was also an advocate for youth living in the area. After learning more about her role, I was inspired to create a character that had the same passion to make a difference with society.

Tell us why we’ll love your book.

Laney is very likeable. She’s caring with a youthful and trusting outlook. She’s the friend who’s always optimistic and fun to be around. Matthew poses an opposite viewpoint. Though less trusting, and somewhat jaded, his is the heart you’ll want to watch.

Do you have any strange writing habits?

I’m a writer of extremes. I’ll spend long days into nights writing, then I’ll go weeks and do nothing. I am absolutely not a writer the seasoned writers tell you to emulate.

What is your best marketing tip?

Honestly, what has worked the best for me is advertising with sites that have access to tons of readers.

Is anything in your book based on real life experiences?

Dealing with the loss of loved ones: relatives, friends, young, old, sudden or a battle with cancer. Whatever the circumstances death is never easy.

Where can readers find you online?

My website is   Anyone can follow me on Facebook, and Twitter, and I have profile pages on Amazon, Bookbub, goodreads, and Pinterest.

Together for Good is available now!

Having lost her mother in a tragic drunk driving accident, Laney Spence is no stranger to grief and loss. Despite this tragedy touching her life at such a young age, Laney has maintained her belief that God brings good out of even the most difficult circumstances. For her, that good came in the form of her older brother’s best friend, Matthew Jordan. Kind and compassionate, Matthew helped her grieve—and she’s been harboring a crush on him ever since.

Years later, when tragedy shatters Matthew’s life, Laney is there for him the same way he’d been there for her all those years ago. But they’re not kids anymore. She’s a teacher with little life experience, and he’s a jaded divorce lawyer with a past he’d rather keep secret. Neither of them can ignore the attraction that blooms, though, leaving them both wondering—is attraction, history, and a shared faith in God enough to keep them together for good, or will circumstances beyond their control drive them apart?
